How Dysport® works.
Dysport® is abobotulinumtoxinA — a purified protein that temporarily blocks acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction, preventing targeted muscles from contracting.
Neuromuscular Block
Dysport® binds to nerve terminals and prevents release of acetylcholine — the neurotransmitter that triggers muscle contraction — at the targeted injection site.
Muscle Relaxation
With contraction reduced, the overlying skin stops creasing with movement. Dynamic wrinkles — those caused by repeated facial expressions — soften or resolve.
Gradual Onset
Results emerge over 3–5 days as the neuromuscular block establishes. Full effect is typically visible by day 14, with results lasting 3–4 months for most patients.
