HOCATT™ questions, answered

Common questions about the HOCATT™ ozone sauna — from FDA status and safety to what to wear, how you’ll feel, and how to begin.

No. HOCATT is not FDA-approved as a treatment for any specific condition. Medical ozone has a long history of clinical use in Europe and is studied in peer-reviewed literature, but falls outside standard FDA approval pathways. At SynergyO3 it is offered as adjunctive support alongside, not in place of, evidence-based medical care.

You breathe clean, supplemental oxygen throughout and never inhale ozone; your head stays outside the chamber. A trained provider stays with you and can stop the session at any time, and Dr. Volpp screens every patient for contraindications first.

You’ll have a private changing space and towels. Your body is inside the chamber with a towel while your head remains outside in fresh air the entire session.

No. Ozone is absorbed transdermally through your skin inside the sealed chamber. Your head is outside and you breathe normal room air, often with supplemental oxygen.

Expect gentle steam and warmth like a comfortable sauna. Most patients feel relaxed during and clear and energized afterward, though some feel tired and need rest. Individual results vary.

The session itself is about 30 minutes. With intake and a short cool-down, plan for roughly 45 to 60 minutes at your visit.

It depends on your goals. Dr. Volpp recommends a cadence during consultation; many patients choose the 10-session package for ongoing protocols.

Yes. HOCATT may not be appropriate during pregnancy, with certain cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, or if you cannot tolerate heat. Dr. Volpp reviews your history and recommends a modified approach or different therapy when needed.

Yes. It is offered as adjunctive support alongside your existing medical care and pairs well with other SynergyO3 therapies. Share your medications and treatments with Dr. Volpp so she can coordinate safely.
